As the county of Northumberland borders Scotland, a trip to Scotland is only an hour by car.
Amble - located only 1.5 miles away, Amble offers an array of excellent fish restaurants, a wonderful harbour village with a selection of artisan pods, local artists, gift and craft shops. You will find the fish and chips the best you can get with fresh fish from the harbour each day.
Alnwick - Also known as ' The Windsor of the North' Alnwick Castle dates back to 1096 and is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. A visit to Alnwick Garden and Treehouse is a must and Barter Books is a book lovers paradise. The market town has a good range of leisure facilities and local services.
Warkworth - The picturesque village of Warkworth is dominated by its castle, crowning a hilltop rising steeply above the River Coquet.
The village has a selection of pubs, eateries, craft shops and galleries. Warkworth also boasts a beautiful beach, links golf course and wonderful river side walks.
For the kids - Children will have a fantastic holiday in Northumberland there are plenty things to do from day out to Alnwick Castle, Gardens and Treehouse to trip to Morwick Ice Cream Parlour. As well has having a mix of country and coastline to explore there is a good selection or indoor activites locally including the swimming pool and Castle Mania indoor play area in nearby Amble.
Northumbrian Coastline - Northumberland is home to some of the Uk's most beautiful and unspoilt beaches from Druridge Bay north to Bamburgh beach with its imposing castle. Warkworth, Alnmouth, Druridge Bay and Hauxley beaches are all within cycling distance or 10 minute drive. There coastline has an abundance of villages on the coastine including Craster, famous for its Kippers and Seahouses.
